AISI 1145 is a carbon alloy steel similar to AISI 1045, but with higher amounts of manganese. This slightly richer chemistry results in improved durability and impact resistance, making it perfect for applications in machine bases, reinforcement plates, keystock, and more. Since its increased sulfur content makes it easy to machine, AISI 1145 can be considered a free-machining steel in certain applications.
