President & Owner
In 1990, a new night-shift employee started in the steel business and never looked back. For over 25 years, he worked many various positions in the steel world. His bi-lingual skills helped him in the International steel market, ascend to a high-level executive position focused on International expansion. After enough of the corporate grind, he and some colleagues started Kapital Steel in 2015. Jerome has an economics degree from Purdue and is a consummate family man, at home & at work. He has two wonderful daughters and a passion for selling steel.
Chief Operating Officer
Brian assisted with initial business planning and the start-up of Kapital Steel and joined the company as Chief Operating Officer in 2018. He is responsible for managing the daily operations of a growing company. Previously, he worked in the banking industry, elevating to Senior Vice-President, Commercial Lending Manager. He is a Purdue University Northwest alum, with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance and an MBA. He has two daughters and enjoys spending time outdoors.
Operations Manager
Cody came to us with extensive knowledge on manufacturing efficiency and the importance of material lead times. He’s originally from Virginia, and after gaining years of construction experience, he spent a half-decade working in operations for MolsonCoors. An avid skier, Cody left the slopes of Colorado behind in pursuit of an exciting new opportunity at Kapital. He and his wife live in Crown Point, IN, with their two daughters.
Project Manager
One of our first employees at Kapital Steel, John serves as our Project Manager, overseeing special projects. Like Jerome, John began his career at Dietrich Steel Industries back in 1988 and was employed at ArcelorMittal for many years. John received a call from Jerome, who shared the idea for an exciting new venture. You guessed it…Kapital Steel. When he’s not putting his knowledge to work at the plant, you’ll find John souping up old cars or hitting the back nine near his home in Hobart, IN.
Executive Assistant
Stephanie attended Indiana University Northwest and has a BS in business administration with a minor in finance. She has worked in the steel industry for 16 years in purchasing, AP and receiving. In her free time she enjoys gardening and home remodeling projects. She was born and raised in the region and currently resides in St. John, IN.
Sales Representative
Proudly representing Kapital Steel since September 2023, Carter is originally from Kenosha, Wisconsin, and holds a bachelor's degree in business finance from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Carter brings a dynamic blend of expertise and a fresh perspective on driving sales success. Carter is dedicated to delivering exceptional value to our customers. Beyond the sales arena, he finds joy in collecting sports cards and attending professional sporting events. Inventory Control Manager
Bringing precision and expertise to Kapital Steel's inventory management, Steve Thomas has been an invaluable addition to our team since March 2022. A graduate of Lake Central High School and Indiana University-Bloomington, Steve's commitment to excellence ensures the seamless flow of our supply chain. He's a devoted family man, residing in Crown Point with his wife and two children. Outside of work, he finds joy in supporting Notre Dame Football and Indiana University Basketball. As he continues to make strides in optimizing our inventory processes, we are thrilled to have Steve as a valuable member of the Kapital Steel family.
Shift Foreman
An Indiana native originally from the small town of Winamac. Adam has been in the steel industry for a decade now. He leads our day to day on the shop floor and brings drive and determination. In his spare time Adam enjoys gaming and time with his family. He and his wife live in Schereville with their two daughters.
Lead Mill Operator
Matt is our longest tenured employee and has over two decades of machine operation experience within the steel industry. Always positive, he brings his joking, comedic personality to the shop floor every day. Matt is a fun-loving guy who enjoys fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family. He now lives in Lake Station with his wife.
Production Manager
Cameron started at Kapital January 2025, where he oversees daily manufacturing operations, drives process improvements, and ensures each project meets the company’s strict standards for quality and efficiency. With a strong background in steel fabrication and team leadership, he manages cross-functional crews, optimizes workflows, and keeps production running safely and smoothly. Known for his problem-solving mindset and calm approach under pressure, Cameron plays a key role in keeping projects on schedule and customers satisfied.
