President & Owner
In 1990, a new employee at Dietrich Steel Industries in Hammond, Indiana, discovered the two great loves of his life: his future wife, Dawn; and the steel industry. After earning his degree in economics from Purdue University Northwest, Jerome worked his way up to a high-profile position specializing in international expansion at several steel service centers. In conjunction with his customer knowledge abroad, he has also been to over 30 steel mills globally. In 2015, leveraging 25 years of experience in the steel industry, Jerome founded Kapital Steel with colleagues Brian and John. A fluent Spanish speaker and consummate family man, Jerome lives in St. John, IN, with his two daughters.
Chief Operating Officer
Managing the daily operations of a growing firm is no small feat, but Brian handles it all (and more) like the pro he is. Brian has worked in the banking industry for 25 years elevating up to Senior Vice-President Commercial Lending. Bringing 25 years of financial experience to Kapital, Brian joined as COO in 2018. Another Purdue University Northwest alum, Brian holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance and an MBA. He lives in Chesterton, IN, with his daughter.
Operations Manager
New in town and new to our team, Cody came to us with extensive knowledge on manufacturing efficiency and the importance of material lead times. He’s originally from Virginia, and after gaining years of construction experience, he spent the most recent half-decade working in operations for MolsonCoors. An avid skier, Cody left the slopes of Colorado behind in pursuit of an exciting new opportunity at Kapital. He and his wife now live in Crown Point, IN, with their two daughters.
Project Manager
One of our first employees at Kapital Steel, John serves as our Project Manager, overseeing special projects. Like Jerome, John began his career at Dietrich Steel Industries back in 1988 and was employed at ArcelorMittal for many years. John received a call from Jerome, who shared the idea for an exciting new venture. You guessed it…Kapital Steel. When he’s not putting his knowledge to work at the plant, you’ll find John souping up old cars or hitting the back nine near his home in Hobart, IN.
Executive Assistant
Stephanie attended Indiana University Northwest and has a BS in business administration with a minor in finance. She has worked in the steel industry for 16 years in purchasing, AP and receiving. In her free time she enjoys gardening and home remodeling projects. She was born and raised in the region and currently resides in St. John, IN.
Sales Representative
A recent addition to our sales team, Carter brings a dynamic blend of expertise and a fresh perspective on driving sales success. Proudly representing Kapital Steel since September 2023, Carter is originally from Kenosha, Wisconsin, and holds a bachelor's degree in business finance from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Carter is dedicated to delivering exceptional value to our clients. Beyond the sales arena, Carter finds joy in collecting sports cards and attending professional sporting events. As Carter continues to make waves in the world of sales, we are excited to have him as a valuable member of the Kapital Steel family.
Inventory Control Manager
Bringing precision and expertise to Kapital Steel's inventory management, Steve Thomas has been an invaluable addition to our team since March 2022. A graduate of Lake Central High School and Indiana University-Bloomington, Steve's commitment to excellence ensures the seamless flow of our supply chain. He's a devoted family man, residing in Crown Point with his wife and two children. Outside of work, he finds joy in supporting Notre Dame Football and Indiana University Basketball. As he continues to make strides in optimizing our inventory processes, we are thrilled to have Steve as a valuable member of the Kapital Steel family.
